Winter's Custom Fillies
Winter
This is our first ever (to my knowledge) Fashion Star Filly custom horse.
Winter's method of customizing her horse "Winter":
"I used a rough condition Calla with next to great hair for the custom. I did her free-hand with acrylic (?) paint. I probably used about 6 to 7 layers of paint. I'm not an artist, but I think she turned out great. She's silver with a very light gold stripe from her ears to her tail. Her hooves are a dark blue and gradually get lighter till the blue blends with the silver. Her mussel is the same, starting off darker and blending. Her mane (didn't change the mane at all) is divided into five sections, each twisted and held in place by an iridescent white cord. Her tail was divided into two sections, both twisted and rapped in the cord. Then one section was rapped into a bun with the second hanging down from it. Around the bun is a string of silver beads. In making the custom, I first put two coats of white paint on the horse for a primer. Then I painted two to three (can't remember exactly) coats of extremely light gray (dolphin gray). For her hooves, I used an extremely dark blue, almost navy (can't remember the name), a mixture of extremely light cobalt blue and the navy (for the middle section) and the light cobalt blue for the top. I painted each section of the leg then, while the paint was still wet, took a dry brush , and lightly brushed upward, mixing the colors. What was hard was trying to get each leg looking the same. She looked pretty good then, but lacked the shimmer of the other fillies and the silver look I was going for. I used metallic peril paint to remedy this. I brushed two very thin layers for the finish, which also helped to seal the paint and keep it from chipping. This added the silver touch, smoothed out the colors in the legs and mussel, and made her look like a Fashion Star filly. I then added the gold stripe and did her hair. It took me about 10 hours total. I still have to paint the star and touch up the eyes, but I need a finer brush. The hardest thing was to smooth out the brush strokes. "

This graceful couple speak ultimate peace and unity as part of the unicorn race. Midnight is a solid yet gorgeous black and Pearl is a bright shinning white.
